Solve Basic Computer Problems on Your Own

Buying a new computer can be exciting and scary at the same time. You want to ensure that you get the best value for the price you are paying, and then you would have to purchase software for the computer separately.  You then wonder if you should invest in extra electronic accessories in order to have the entire experience of the computer that you purchased. Unfortunately however, computers and laptops do not last for long periods of time and after two years or so they start to lag. Many people tend to exchange their computer or purchase another one during with period. However, there are certain things that you could do to fix your computer on your own.

Removing Viruses and Malware

The problem of computers and laptops being affected with various types of viruses are a common occurrence. Without taking your computer to a computer repair shop, you can get rid of or protect your computer from viruses by installing an antivirus software program. You can research on the types of antivirus software that are available, and pick what you think is the most suited for your computer. If you have a deep infection however, you might need to take your computer to the repair shop where they would have to go through your auto-start entries and registry by hand and remove malware that aren’t being detected and caught by the antivirus program.

Reinstalling the Operating System

Once a computer becomes slow after a couple of years, people tend to take the computer to repair shops to get new parts fixed thinking that the computer will work the exact way it did when it was first purchased.  Without your first instinct being to take it to a repair shop you can try and solve this issue at home by updating the operating system yourself. The ways to do it vary depending on the device you use, but usually an update can be done online or by buying a CD with the newer version of the operating system and then installing it on to the computer. Be sure to always backup important data and files either onto a hard drive, pen drive or CD for safekeeping.

Recovering Deleted Files

If you do delete a file by mistake, it does not mean that is completely lost. There are ways to recover deleted files and this is because the computer does not erase everything that is deleted immediately. By doing a quick online search, you will be able to find the exact method in which you will be able to recover files. Unless you’ve deleted critical documents regarding legal or business data (in which case you might need to consult a professional) you will be able to recover deleted documents.
